The arguments surrounding the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF election does not seem to be fleeting soon as the main actor in the drama, Governor Chibuike Amaechi appears very bitter about the outcome of events.
Speaking at a symposium in Port Harcourt on ‘The review of the 1999 constitution and its impact on Judicial Reforms’, Governor Amaechi said, anyone who supports Governor Jang’s faction of the NGF is undemocratic.
With reference to the NGF election, Amaechi affirmed that “Everybody voted. Jang was among the first persons to vote. And when I won, we were there. We were to commence the counting for the chairmanship when my brother and colleague from Akwa-Ibom got up and said there is a document I have where 19 governors have signed for us”.
Amaechi then charged the Nigerian Bar Association,NBA, to condemn the incidents happening in the NGF.
He warned that people should be conscious of the factional crisis in the NGF because it is a dress rehearsal to what should be expected in 2015 “where people will win a democratic election and those in power will not accept the figures”, Amaechi noted.
