The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday decried the fabrication of stories by Nigerians, even as he debunked claims of a robbery incident in a train heading to Kaduna from Abuja on Tuesday.

While denying stories that armed robbers attacked the locomotive at Rigasa, he told newsmen in Abuja that it was impossible to rob the train since there were security personnel on board.

“I saw one fake news story that robbers attack the Abuja-Kaduna rail line. This is not correct. Nigerians on their own fabricates stories,” the minister said.

Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, Fidet Okhiria, had earlier dismissed the report of robbery attack as false and unfounded, insisting that, “there was no such attack on our train”.

He explained that what happened was that kids threw stones at some of the coaches as the train was passing.

Okhiria added that the train service remained safe and the police still provide security inside the train and along the corridor.
