Amaechi says PDP lacks credible candidates for election

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state has observed that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state does not have a credible candidate to contest the 2015 governorship election.

Amaechi made observation when he went on an inspection tour of the Adokiye Amesiameka stadium in preparation of the APC mega rally set to hold this month.

He said the calibre of candidates in the PDP were individuals who would resort to stealing state funds when they get into power.

The Governor said the essence of the planned rally was to show that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was not a billboard party as suggested by President Jonathan in Benin.

He said: “What we are trying to show here is that the other party said they held a TAN rally at Elekahia stadium, with about 16,000 people. They also held one in Benin that I don’t know how many thousands.

“We want to hold our own here and we are expecting a total number of 69,000 APC faithfuls.

“We are testing ourselves and we also want to show to them including the President that we are not a billboard party.”

Meanwhile, Rivers State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi said the promises by the Federal government to reconstruct the Rumuwoji Mile-1 market was laughable.

Challenging the Federal Government to name a project it had commenced and concluded in Rivers state, Amadi said the promise was another lie by the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.

Amadi stressed that, “The PDP Federal government has not been able to complete the construction of the Port Harcourt International Airport which it started so many years ago. They have not been able to complete the model girls school which it started about 3years ago. The so-called Almajiri school in Omerelu has been abandoned, even the road to the Port Harcourt refinery, Nigeria’s most priced asset has been left in shambles, yet they are promising building a market.

“Politics and governance has been reduced to a huge joke. What a shame”.
