Rivers state governor and chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, Rotimi Amaechi, last night led 17 other state governors to the Presidential Villa for a dinner with President Goodluck Jonathan.
The group had set out to the seat of power, after opting to postpone a meeting earlier scheduled to hold at the same time scheduled for the presidential dinner.
The governors met at the Rivers state governor’s lodge in Asokoro area of Abuja at about 7pm and moved out at 8:20pm, to join their colleagues at Aso Rock.
Confirming the development, a statement issued by the forum reads in part: “The group has postponed its meeting previously scheduled for 8pm, Wednesday June 26, 2013 in deference to His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, who invited all governors to a dinner at the presidential villa at the same time as the forum meeting was to hold.
“We will be attending Mr. President’s dinner invitation as a mark of our respect for his person and office. The NGF meeting had been previously scheduled to hold at 8pm, but with the invitation to dinner with the President, the governors decided to reschedule.
