Amaechi accuses Wike of massive corruption

Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has accused the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike of involving in massive corruption during his tenure as Chief of Staff, Government House Port Harcourt.

Amaechi disclosed that Wike deliberately diverted funds meant to build 14 model primary schools in Obio-Akpor Local Government area.

The Governor made the disclosure during his tour of Obio-Akpor Local Government area.

He noted that he was betrayed by Wike’s excessive love for money and power, adding that Wike also tried to frustrate the effort of appointing another Obio-Akpor man, Tony Okocha to replace him as Chief of Staff.

“When I became Governor I appointed an Obio Akpor son as my Chief of staff. That was one of the offences I committed; choosing Nyesom Wike as my Chief of staff. I wonder if that man is truly an Obio-Apkor son by refusing another Obio-Akpor man from being Chief of staff. It is greed.

“Again, another problem you people have here is stealing. Those who steal Government money. I challenge them to a debate on stealing.

“As Governor of Rivers state, I called my Chief of Staff and gave him 14 schools to give to Obio-Apkor people. Did he give it to you” , the people screamed, “No”.

Amaechi also wondered why Wike who is a top official at the Federal Ministry of Education has refused to attract building of schools in some parts of his area, Obio-Akpor.

“Our brother is the Minister for Education. By now, we should have had more schools in Elelenwo (a community in Obio-Apkor). This is somebody I helped to bring up. Anyone who can betray his brother can kill his mother”, Amaechi said.

Meanwhile, a number of youth supposedly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP staged a protest at Rumuomasi in a bid to stop Amaechi’s reception in the area.

The protesters led by the Coordinator of the Grassroot Development Initiative, GDI in Obio-Akpor, Collins Onuwo said Amaechi has failed in the area for refusing to appoint Justice Daisy Okocha as the Chief Judge of Rivers state Judiciary.

This newspaper (Dailypost) reports that the protest which was almost causing chaos was doused by security operatives.

The tour continues with the Governor’s visit to 13 other wards in Obio- Akpor Local government area.
