A Kaduna based Civil Society Organisation, Centrum Initiative for Development and Fundamental Rights Advocacy (CEDRA), has forwarded a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC) calling for investigation of Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The petition, which was submitted on Friday, a copy of which was made available to DAILY POST in Abuja by Chairman of the organisation, Dr. John Danfulani alleged that El’Rufai’s administration was dotted with nepotism, cronyism and proxism, saying the governor awarded contracts to the tune of N3 billion to his immediate family.

He said the governor was involved in contract splitting in four local government areas of Kaduna state to enable his cronies to benefit, thereby breaching provisions of Public Procurement Act.

“Kaduna governor was involved in contract splitting, cornering of contracts through fronts, members of El-Rufai’s families and cronies”, he said.

Most worrisome, he said, was the governor’s alleged refusal to advertise bids, adding that those contracts lacked transparency.

He added that the contracts had been abandoned at various stages.

“It is incontrovertible and impeccable that persons and companies that illegally and unethically got these contracts abandoned them at various times”, he said.

The petition explained further that the investigation of El-Rufai was in the interest of Kaduna people, adding that fighting corruption was the major focus of the present administration.

“Fighting corruption is a major pillar of President Muhammadu Buhari administration because of his never say die determination to cleanse the system of corruption in Private and public sectors”, he added.

However, effort by our correspondent to have El’Rufai’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Samuel Aruwa to speak proved abortive as he neither replied to text messages nor picked his calls.
