The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Delta, today stated that investigation is still ongoing into the killings of two youths who were allegedly shot dead by a naval personnel at the premises of WRPC on Friday at Ifiekporo community in Warri, DAILY POST can report.
The Commander, NNS Delta, Commodore Dewu Ibrahim in his response via text message disclosed this to DAILY POST today, three days after the navy claimed its personnel acted in “Self defence.”
Commodore Ibrahim emphasized the Navy’s preparedness in the protection of lives and properties in its area of operations.
Commodore Ibrahim also promised that the navy will take into cognizance the need to relate with its host communities cordially.
” I assure you that investigation is still ongoing on the issue.”
Commodore Ibrahim declined comments on whether the overzealous naval personnel has been arrested just as he refused to furnish us with the names, rank and force number of the personnel.
It would be recalled that three youths from the community were allegedly shot dead by an overzealous naval personnel.
The youths who lost their lives in the incident include the Assistant Secretary of Ekpan Youths Body, Christopher Gbogidi, and a Youth from Ifie-Kporo community, Agbolu and Abraham Awana.
An indigene from Ekpan who craved anonymity threatened to drag the Nigerian Navy to Court over the untimely death of their indigenes.
He said specifically that the Navy should be ready to produce the naval personnel when the legal battle starts.
