A coalition of ethnic nationality youth leaders, Saturday, paid a solidarity visit to the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, with a vow that all those behind the planned invasion of the Ohanaeze secretariat in Enugu, yesterday, Friday, must not go unpunished.
The groups were led by the Secretary General and National Director of Publicity of the Coalition of Ethnic Nationality Youth leaders of Nigeria (CENYLON), Comrade Eric Oluwole, who is also the National President Yoruba Youth Council and Mr Zorpmal Emmanuel,(National President Middle Belt Youth Council worldwide).
Spokesman of the group, Oluwole, while describing Isiguzoro as “one of the founding fathers of the group”, said they had come to identify with him owing to “his ability to build bridges with other ethnic nationality youth groups in Nigeria. His spirit of one Nigeria is what is needed most at this point in our history.” In his remark, Mazi Isiguzoro noted that the visit will re-energize him “to do more in building bridges of unity for the progress of our great nation.”
He assured them that no amount of campaign of calunmy will destract him from his set objective of being part of the process of building a better Nigeria which her youths will be proud of.
The group later paid visit to some key Igbo leaders in Enugu.
Meanwhile, the OYC has again cautioned against truncation of democracy in Abia State.
The Ohanaeze Youth President, who gave the warning, noted that there “are many issues Ndigbo are facing now in Nigeria and they cannot afford to be facing internal squabbles too.”
He, in particular, called on those threatening to invade Government House Umuahia to think of the dire consequences of such act.
“Let the Court of Appeal decide on the matter and Abia state will move forward as other States in Nigeria”, Isiguzoro stated.
Meanwhilez, Isiguzoro has called on the federal government to declare roads in the south east disaster roads.
He expressed sadness that several federal roads in the zone were still in dilapidated state.
While calling for federal presence in the zone, as well as employement opportunities, he re-iterated that Ndigbo cannot leave Nigeria for anybody.
