Anambra State commissioner for Special Duties, Barr Vincent Ezenwajiaku who was last week declared wanted over allegation of fraud by the men of the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, Lagos State Police Command has given reasons for his refusal to honour the invitation.
Ezenwajiaku, who briefed journalists on Monday in Awka said the police and even the complainant, Mr Chuks Mgbemena were not after the money owed him (Mgbemena), rather they want to arrest, detain and torture him and if possibly main him for life as a way of humiliating him.
He reiterated that there was no truth in the report that he had duped Mgbemena using an inexistent company as he(Mgbemena) had conducted the necessary checks on the company and found it to be duly registered before making the payment of a total sum of N8.2 million as money for the acquisition of 34 percent share in the company.
“The allegations against me that I duped him with an inexistent company is not true. It is sheer fabricated falsehood, the company is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission with registration number; RC 278625 by a law firm; AC Ezenduka and Co in 1995, the certificate of incorporation is there and the law firm is still existing till today.
“We ran two bank accounts; Equity Bank and Diamond Bank, and you know that there is no way you can open a corporate account without your company being incorporated. The company, Bio Plastic Manufacturing Limited while it existed was also a member of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, and Chuks’ elder brother, Sir Mike Mgbemena was the General Manager of the company.
“I had mandated him to choose someone to be his eye in the company and he chose his senior brother who was the GM, and whom we also paid salaries. How can he claim that I duped him with an inexistent company when he was the one that came to me and begged to purchase shares in my company,” Ezenwajiaku queried.
The commissioner revealed that he had instituted a libel suit against the police and Mgbemena demanding for N250 million for defamation of character.
He also told journalists that he had an order retraining the police from arresting him, an order he said the police defied to arrest and detain a staff of his ministry who was still being held in Lagos.
He thanked the Anambra State Governor who he said had recognised the fact that the matter was meant to tarnish his hard earned reputation, while insisting that the matter was politically motivated as Mgbemena hated the APGA government in Anambra with a passion, and since he cannot get at the governor, he is using him (Ezenwajiaku).
“It’s a case of hatred, how can they declare me wanted when they know how to get to me? Chuks paid men of the SFU to collect debt from me in an illegal manner, and they are out to intimidate, arrest, detain and torture me, that is why I went to court. Though they have been evading service, we have finally served them and we have a proof to that”, he said.
