The families of one Salisu Badamasi and that of Adamu Sani have petitioned the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, over alleged extra-judicial killing of Salisu and injuring of Badamasi with gunshot wounds.
The family, through their counsel, Barr. Akib Idris, in the petition are demanding for a conduct of comprehensive investigation on the circumstances that led to the killing of their son, Salisu Badamasi, who they alleged to have being killed by the men of Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Custom Service at Ogere on the 15/01/2016.
According to the petition dated 18/03/2016, and made available to journalists in Jos, yesterday, the Custom personnel had unjustifiably after collecting N400, 000, over goods they had earlier confiscated, molested the traders who were on their way to Jos, from Lagos.
It said besides Salisu Badamasi who was killed, his co-traveller Adamu Sani was also shot and severely injured.
The petitioners said the conduct of the Custom men was a flagrant violation of the fundamental right of the two persons.
The petition also demanded for the, “punishment of those officers that had participated in the act, restrained the officers from further harassing, arresting and forceful extortion of money and co-occurrence of extra-judicial killings, without any legal justification.
The families further demanded payment of, “the sum of N500 million as compensation to the families of Salisu Badamasi and Adamu Sani, whose innocent blood is crying for justice.
The petitioners also demand that the Comptroller General should direct the refund of the N400, 000 earlier extorted by men of the Custom Service from the two aforementioned persons.
The petitioners are demending that an unreserved public apology be published in at least, two national dailies.
They have also threatened to pursue legal redress at the end of two weeks ultimatum, starting from today.
