The proprietor of Explosive Academy, Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho has asked a Delta State Magistrate Court in Effurun, Uvwie Council area to commit the state commissioner for Women Affairs, Rev. (Mrs.) Omatsola Williams and three others to prison for allegedly trafficking thirteen children out of the state in disobedience to an order made by the court on the 4th October.

Joined as applicant in the suit No ME/M/71/16, is Explosive Academy, a child correction center run by Aghogho, while Bridgit Anyafullu, Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Government on Child Right, ASP Benedicta (O/C JWC, Area Command Warri) and Mrs. Adebayor (Asst Dir. Of Child, Asaba) are co-respondents.

In the affidavit in support of his motion made available to DAILY POST in Warri yesterday, the applicants stated that, “On 25th Oct 2016, the Respondents abducted children apprehended with a warrant of this Honourable court with Suit No ME/M/64/16 to an undisclosed location at Asaba from the Area Command Office, Warri.

“That on 4th October 2016, the court granted an order for apprehension of the children who are grossly exploited and delinquent within and across jurisdiction of this court and for assessment at Explosive Academy, Abraka for onward conveyance to this Honourable court.”

According to the suit, the applicants, armed by the order and aided by policemen from the Warri Area Command, did raid delinquent and exploited children on the 23rd October, where 13 children were held in company of suspected prostitutes and thieves and kept in custody of the Area Command.

The applicants further deposed that, “While preparation for transfer of the said children to custody of the 2nd Applicant (Explosive Academy) was in progress, the Respondents invaded and abducted the said children to an unknown location in Asaba.

“That the said children were unlawfully transferred from lawful custody and trafficked to an undisclosed location in disobedience to the order of this Honourable court. That the Respondents have no respect for the rule of law and orders of this Honourable court.”

The Applicants therefore prayed the court for an order committing Delta state commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and three others to prison for “disobeying the order made by the court presided over by Magistrate Blessing Ideh, and issued with a warrant of this Honourable court.”
