The U-23 team of Senegal, has clinched the gold medal at the men’s football event of the All Africa Games, after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 at the Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat on Friday.
It is their first ever medal at the competition, with a fourth-place finish in 2011 their best achievement to date.
Moussa Seydi, who plays for FC Metz in France, was the hero as he netted the winner after only two minutes of action.
Senegal started their road to the final with back-to-back draws against Ghana and Nigeria in Group B, before they defeated hosts Congo 3-1 in the semi-final.
