Nabil Bentaleb has admitted that Algeria are under pressure, ahead of this weekend’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo.
The North African nation were only able to draw 1-1 with Cameroon in their first game of the qualifying series and have to win against Group B leaders Nigeria, to stay in the race.
“I must say that we are a bit under pressure because we need a good result against Nigeria. But I’m optimistic because Algeria always give good output in difficult times,” Bentaleb told Le Buteur.
Bentaleb, who is on loan at Schalke 04, also played down any effect of sacking and hiring a new coach within a short space of time, after Georges Leekens replaced Milosec Rajevac .
“Risky? No. It remains the choice of the president of the federation. Now, if the old coach did not have the means to drive the country far in this competition, then this is definitely a good decision,” he added.
