Alexis Sanchez reveals why he didn’t post any tribute to Arsene Wenger

Manchester United forward, Alexis Sanchez, has said he sent Arsene Wenger a text message rather than post a tribute on social media, after the Frenchman announced he would be leaving Arsenal.

With past and present Gunners taking turns to praise Wenger on Friday after the news broke, Sanchez did not join in the public encomiums.

“I couldn’t post on social media but I texted AW last night to wish him all the best.

“It’s sad [to hear the news] because he is an icon of the game and a gentleman.

“He taught me a lot about respect and professionalism. He improved my game too,” the Chilean told reporters, after he starred in United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham in their FA Cup semi-final clash on Saturday.

Sanchez left the Emirates in January, in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan sign for Arsenal.
