The Nigerian Army has stated that Major Hamza Al Mustapha, former chief Security Officer, CSO, to the late Military Head of State, General Sani Abacha, must undergo a psychological evaluation before he could return to the army, DailyPost has learnt.

Sources said the army authorities stated that Al-Mustapha must first be medically certified fit to return to service.

It was gathered that clinical sessions for assessing the mental fitness of the army major has been scheduled in either one of the military hospitals in Enugu or Lagos.

Further findings by our reporter have it that the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Azubuike Ihejirika, had expressly ordered for the clinical session.

Al Mustapha, having spent more than a decade in prison is considered unfit by some in the army.

Contrary to the widespread rumors that Al Mustapha may be retired, unfolding indication shows that this may not be the case. As learnt, the military may still have some roles for him, especially with the war on terrorism. Originally hailing from Yobe, NorthEast of the country, currently in the mercy of insurgents, Al Mustapha’s release, according to some analysts, may be useful in terms of the war on terrorism.
