Akwa Ibom State gets new Commissioner of Police

A new Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Bassey Abang, has been sent to Akwa Ibom State.

Abang is to take over from Mr. Adeyemi Samuel Ogunjemilusi, mni, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP MacDonald Odiko and made available to our correspondent on Friday.

The statement revealed that the new Police Commissioner is a graduate of International Studies from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 15th March, 1988.

The statement added that before coming to Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Abang was a Commissioner of Police at the Force Headquarters upon his return from the National Defense, College.

It further added that Abang, who is married with children, is the 24th Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State.
