A group, under the aegis of Idoma Awareness Campaign (IAC) has accused Tiv elites of plotting the removal of Chief of Defense Intelligence, Air Vice Marshall Monday Morgan Riku.
DAILY POST reports that President Muhammadu Buhari a few weeks ago, asked AVM Morgan, a native of Idoma to proceed on terminal leave after which he is expected to retire.
Buhari’s direction came few days after some persons who claimed to be Idoma elders asked the President to remove Morgan for joining home politics.
IAC in a press statement signed by its President, Hon. Mathias Egwa and Secretary, Comrade John Ajeh described Morgan’s removal as the handiwork of some Tiv elites.
The group particularly accused Governor Samuel Ortomn and Senator George Akume of firing the embers for the removal of Idoma people from federal positions and their replacement by Tiv people.
“The duo (Akume and Ortom) had used Comrade Daniel Onjeh to write a petition against Chief Ogbeh from being screened and confirmed as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is still fresh in the mind of every Idoma person.
“It is unfortunate that AVM Morgan has become the first victim of the Akume/Ortom campaign against Idoma sons and daughters occupying federal positions. They are now angling for the removal of Arc Sunday Echono, a Federal Permanent Secretary from Apa Local Government Area,” the group claimed.
