Akpom scores as Arsenal hammer Boreham Wood 4-0

Nigerian-born striker, Chuba Akpom, scored for an Arsenal selected XI side that beat English National League side Boreham Wood 4-0, in a pre-season friendly at Meadow Park on Thursday.

Gunners boss sent out a mixture of their U-23 and U-18 players and also had the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Jeff Reine-Adelaide in the team.

Akpom opened the scoring for Arsenal after converting a 12th minute penalty.

Stephy Mavididi made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.

On the stroke of half time, Arsenal went 3-0 through Jon Toral.

Two minutes after the break, Mavididi grabbed his second goal to make it 4-0.

Arsenal’s first team will take part in the Emirates Cup this weekend, when they face Benfica and Sevilla on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
