Akpom joins Hull from Arsenal

Chuba Akpom has joined Hull City on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

The Tigers, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, announced the signing of the Nigerian youngster on Tuesday.

“The Tigers have completed a deal to sign striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Arsenal,” Hull wrote.

“19-year-old Akpom, a current England U20 international, joined up with his new team-mates this morning and further enhances manager Steve Bruce’s attacking options ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship season opener against Huddersfield Town.

“Akpom is highly regarded at the Emirates Stadium and arrives in East Yorkshire keen to build on senior experience already gained with the Gunners. The striker has nine appearances to his name since making his first team debut as a substitute in a win against Sunderland in September 2013, and he has also had previous loan spells with Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest.

“The striker highlighted his talents when scoring a hat-trick for Arsenal against a Singapore Select XI in the Barclays Asia Trophy last month.”
