Akwa Ibom state governor and chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governor’s Forum, Godswil Akpabio, on Tuesday explained why Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who was suspended by the National Working Committee has not been recalled.
Akpabio, who spoke with State House correspondents after the PDP Caucus meeting held at the State House Banquet Hall on Tuesday night, disclosed that the issue of the suspension of Governor Amaechi was on the agenda.
He said, the National Working Committee could not take decision to recall him because it will be “subjudiced” since the Governor has gone to court.
“The National caucus was fully briefed on all issues pertaining to the party. We made an appeal to NWC to look at suspension but the one of Rivers State Governor is subjudiced because he has gone to court already. The one of Sokoto did not go to court and so the suspension was lifted”, he said.
The Caucus meeting was attended by President Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, PDP national leadership, Governors Akpabio, Theodre Orji and some principal officers of the National Assembly.
Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, who was last week suspended for “gross indiscipline” was recalled on Monday.
