The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum yesterday restated its belief that their party would win elections in all southern states in the country, including Lagos.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio who chairs the Forum disclosed this shortly before the commencement of the forum’s meeting in Lagos.
Akpabio, who told reporters that the PDP would win on first ballot because it was a national party, said, “Forget the propaganda you see. We are on ground and we believe PDP will win.
“PDP is the party to beat. We are not panicking because we have presence across 120, 000 polling units across the nation.
“We are in Lagos because Lagos is a strategic place. We have to re-strategise to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
“We came to brainstorm on how to win the election,” he said.
While reassuring Nigerians about the resolve of the party to ensure that the elections were credible, the Governor noted, “We intend to discuss everything concerning the election. We have a responsibility to ensure the stability of Nigeria and Nigerians because we are the party in power.
“PDP is not callous to create problems in Nigeria,” he said.
Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State, who also spoke with newsmen before their meeting started called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to be sure of the effectiveness of the card readers before deploying same.
“INEC said they could not use the card reader in the Osun election because it was sensitive but between the national elections and Osun election, which is more sensitive?” he asked.
