Akande, el-Rufai, Tumsah, Sadiya, others named APC interim officers


After a long wait, the All Progressive Congress, APC, has appointed former National Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Chief Bisi Akande, as its interim chairman.

Spokesman for the opposition party, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, made this known after a closed door meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, late on Monday.

According to him, the appointment, which was “part of the requirements (set by INEC) for the registration of the new party was a collective decision of all the merging parties.”

Fashakin said, “The current National Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Tijani Tumsa has emerged as the interim national secretary.

“Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari is the Deputy National Chairman North.

“Chief Tom Ikimi is the National Vice Chairman, South-South. Chief Niyi Adebayo is for the South-West.”

Others are: General Abdullahi Aboki for the North Central and Senator Annie Okwonkwo is for the South East.

Lai Mohammed is the national publicity secretary and the national woman leader,NWL, is Mrs Sharon Ikeazor from Anambra State; Abubakar Lado from Niger State is the national youth leader,NYL, General Aboki from Nasarawa State is national vice chairman ,north-central, Muiz Banire emerged as national legal adviser, while Barrister James Ocholi from Kogi State emerged as Deputy Legal Adviser,DLA,; Hon. Muniru Muse from Lagos State is ex-officio member, while the national Deputy Auditor,NDA, is Capt. Bala Jibrin from Bauchi State.

The Congress for Progressive Change,CPC, has also nominated Sadiya Farouq from Zamfara State as National Treasurer.

Others from the CPC line-up are former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari from Katsina State as Deputy National Chairman, ex-minister of the Federal Capital Territory,FCT, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai , Deputy National Secretary.

In the same vein, the ANPP named as vice-chairman (north-west), Salisu Fagge, while Alhaji Yemi Sanusi is ex-officio. Welfare Secretary is Emma Eneukwu, National Financial secretary, Alhaji Shaibu Musa, zonal chairman, Senator Sule Garo (North-west), Umar Duhu (North-east), Yemi Sani (South-west).
