Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State was on Sunday turbaned as the Bashorun of Musulumi, Oyo State.
Ajimobi, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2019 general elections, was turbaned during the commissioning of a Central Mosque he built at the Oke Ado area of Ibadan, the state capital.
The turbaning and the commissioning of the mosque christened, “Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque” were part of the week-long activities to celebrate the 69th birthday of the governor.
Ajimobi clocked 69 on Sunday.
The turbaning was witnessed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakr, Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta State, Alhaji Duad Akinola Makanjuola, Chairman Muslim Community of Oyo State, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, Professor Kamil Oloso, Alhaji Lateef Oyelade and Chairman of the state Pilgrim Welfare Board (Muslim wing), Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold.
Others at the two in one event were the Executive Secretary, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Professor Daud Noibi, APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 general elections, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu and Sheik Muideen Bello.
The Aare Musulumi, Alhaji Akinola Makanjuola, while presenting a gift to Ajimobi on behalf of the Muslim Ummah, said that the gesture was presented to the governor for his contributions to the religion.
Makanjuola eulogised the governor for remaining committed to the development of the state.
