Ajimobi, Shittu’s rift dangerous to APC chances in 2019 – Orji Kalu

Ex-Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has said the face off between Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and the Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu was a threat to the chances of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in winning the 2019 general elections.

Kalu who made this declaration in his goodwill message on Saturday at the presentation of the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari and the commissioning of the South West Zonal Office of Muhammadu Buhari/ Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group currently holding in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, maintained that the rift between the duo can only lead to setback in the party if not urgently settled.

The office which is situated at Veterinary junction, along Mokola-Sango Road was built by the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu in championing the second term campaign of President Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo in 2019 elections.

At the two in one event were former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole and Deputy National Chairman, South West APC, Chief Pius Akinyelure.

Others included Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi, stalwarts of the ruling APC and Mrs. Nike Omowoware.

Kalu while speaking said he was not really concerned about the office but the unity within the party.

He said, “We know that there is a break in connection between the governor and the Minister. We are not happy of what is happening between the governor and the Minister.

“This is not good for our party.

“We will settle it. We are going to settle it. I am happy my brother, Ken Nnamani is here and we will settle it.

“I am not happy that the governor is not here, party officials are not here, commissioners are not here. It is only the truth that can set us free.

“It is not good for our party. We must preach in this party. We must tell the President to intervene. When two elephants fight, it is the grasses that suffer. And we need the grasses to feed our animals.

“I don’t care if I finish here and the Minister said I should not come to his house again, or the governor said I don’t want to see you again. I will accept and take it.

“I don’t want to talk about the building we are about to commission but I want to talk about unity because unity is very important.

Shittu while speaking said what Buhari has done in the last two and half years is more than what the PDP did in sixteen years.
