CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa, was the star of the show, as the Super Eagles battled to a 3-1 win over Sudan in Abuja on Wednesday.
The African champions came into the match under pressure and bottom of Group A with 1 point. Stephen Keshi’s men were also looking to avenge their humiliating 1-0 loss to the Sudanese on Saturday in Khartoum.
However, Nigeria only found the breakthrough early in the second half, after Musa pounced to give the Eagles the lead. A defensive lapse allowed the visitors to equalize just a few minutes later.
Debutant Aaron Samuel also capitalized on a mix-up in the Sudanese defence, to prod in Nigeria’s second. Keshi’s men were hanging on for all three points, before Musa stole the ball from a defender and smashed home expertly.
The Eagles are now third with four points, while Sudan return to the bottom of the pile with three points.
