Aguero nets 100th Premier League goal as Newcastle hold City

Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, scored his 100th Premier League goal for the club, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

The Argentine opened the scoring from a Aleksandar Kolarov free-kick. Although replays showed the goal was from an offside position, it was allowed to stand. The home side levelled through Vurnon Anita.

He is only the third non-European to score 100 Premier League goals after Dwight Yorke and Didier Drogba.

Aguero is the second-fastest player to reach 100 in the Premier League, accomplishing the feat in 147 games — 23 more than it took Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

The result ensured City remained in third position, one point ahead of Arsenal who host West Brom on Thursday. Newcastle have now moved to within two points of Norwich City and topflight safety.
