The representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to Nigeria, Angele Dikongue-Atangana, has described the damage done in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue state by suspected Fulani herdsmen as unimaginable.

Atangana said this during a tour of the area with the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internally Displaced Persons, Refugees and North Development Initiative, Ezekiel Adaji.

She stated that Agatu needs both national and international attention to be able to rebuild its damaged community.

“In my 20 years of working as a humanitarian, I have never seen such a level of destruction. If steps are not taken, the crisis can affect the country as a whole,” she said

Atangana said the damage done to Agatu was similar to what was happening in the North-East.
