Again, Borno CAN loses 2 IDPs

Two out of the registered 48,348 Christians Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) weekend lost their lives at Church of Brethern (EYN) Jerusalem Camps in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

This brings to a total of nine Christian IDPs who lost their lives while taking refuge in Maiduguri this year.Meanwhile, two others that had encountered Psychiatric problem were recently admitted at the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, treated and discharged.

Speaking to Journalists yesterday in Maiduguri, the Christian Camp Coordinator of Ekkliziyyar Yan’uwa, a Nigeria (EYN Church No.I, Wulari/Jerusalem), Mr. Daniel Ali Garga said, Late Daniel Kadagha, aged 47, who survived with 6 children died on Saturday in the State’s Specialists Hospital, Maiduguri (SSHM) as a result of kidney failure, while Late Tani Dughwadza, aged 68 died on the same day as a result of heart attack she suddenly encountered while in the camp.

It would be recalled that since the sacking of many communities by insurgents last year, several Christian IDPS from Gwoza, Chibok, Damboa, Askira/Uba, Kukawa local government areas and Michika as well as Madagali council areas of Adamawa state were forced to relocate to Maiduguri, where Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno state chapter had continued to provide them with food and shelter in various churches such as Anglican Church, St. Hillary polo, CAN secretariat, EYN DCC Secretariat, Assemblies of God Church, EYN LCC Maiduguri, Shagari low cost among others.

Garga in an emotion laden voice said, “We the entire Christian community in Borno state, particularly those directly coordinating the IDP camps regret to announce the sudden death and passing to Glory of our brother and sister, Late Daniel Kadagha and Late Tani Dughwadza on Saturday, 9th May, 2015.

“I lost two IDPs today (Saturday) in my camp, making a total of nine death recorded so far. May their Souls Rest in Peace”. Garga stated.

He pointed out that the remains of the two deceased were amid tears buried on the same day at Dala Commentary, Maiduguri at about 3:17pm by Pastor in-charge of EYN LCC Maiduguri, Reverend Bitrus Bdliya as well as Reverend Bitrus Duwara and Evangelist Bitrus Mamuda of the same church.

While praying God to grant eternal rest to the souls of late IDPs, and for the restoration of peace to the troubled north east and the country in general, the Camp Coordinator also said even though, many of their displaced Brethren had to take refuge with their relatives and church members in relatively safer places like Maiduguri and other neighbouring states of Gombe, Adamawa, and Abuja, much attention needed to be given to them by both National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to cushion the hardship of other IDPs at various camps in the state.
