The ongoing ‘war’ between the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Presidency through the national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken a new dimension as the party on Tuesday inaugurated new leaders for its Rivers State chapter.

It was leanrt that the inauguration of Felix Obuah as Rivers PDP chairman was done by the National Working Committee of the party under the leadership of Bamanga Tukur, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

It came less than 24 hours after Mr. Obuah was declared as the rightful chairman of the Rivers PDP by an Abuja High Court.

Mr. Obuah challenged the election of Godspower Ake, a loyalist of Mr. Amaechi, as the PDP chairman in Rivers.

An aide to Mr. Amaechi, Ibim Semenitari, hinted that the state government is currently studying the court judgement and would react after a thorough review.

Amaechi has been having a serious battle with the presidency and leadership of the ruling party over his recent statements and stand on critical national and party issues.

It would be recalled that the governor once publicly condemned the presidency for the corruption in the petroleum subsidy scheme and is believed to be opposed to the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan.
