Afenifere reacts to Obasanjo’s criticism of Buhari’s govt

The apex Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere has described former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government as apt.

Obasanjo had on Monday described the Buhari’s administration as a failure, which had nothing to offer in 2019. He encouraged Nigerians not to re-elect the President.

Reacting, spokesman of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, in a short statement said Obasanjo’s assessment of Buhari was not a crime, despite his support for Buhari during 2015 elections.

Odumakin described Obasanjo’s criticism as a mark of courage.

The statement read “We have an incompetent and ineffective administration that is not performing well.

“It is not a crime that Obasanjo participated in bringing this administration to power because every Nigerian has the right to support any government he wants.

“It is only barbarians who go after people for their choices in a democracy like some people are doing. But if those who supported him now realise that he is not performing well and they have said it out, that, to me, is a mark of courage.”
