AfDB President, Adesina presents Babacar Ndiaye Trophy to Kenya President, Kenyatta

The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, presented the Great Builder Prize – Trophée Babacar Ndiaye of The Africa Road Builders in Busan, South Korea.

This year, the prize returns to the President of the Republic of Kenya, HE. Uhuru Kenyatta.

The trophy was received by the Director General of the Management of the Debt and Resource Mobilization of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Jackson Kinyanjui.

In sponsoring The Africa Road Builders – Trophée Babacar Ndiaye, the AfDB President explains that “the Bank has built a strong track record in promoting infrastructure development in Africa, including increased funding for road and air transport.

“In doing so, the Bank will support greater mobility and maintain stronger connectivity between African countries and with the rest of the world, thus further promoting the integration of the African economy.”

Adesina paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Babacar Ndiaye “for his immense contribution to the development of our beloved continent during his life and, in particular, his transition to the head of the institution “.

The official presentation of the Babacar Ndiaye Trophy was preceded by a high level panel chaired by Professor Carlos Lopes, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

Themed “Transport and Industrial Transformation of Africa”, the panel included the Representatives of AGEROUTE Côte d’Ivoire and AfDB, as well as Mr. Mohamed Hamidouche, Expert and former Country Representative of AfDB.

The Africa Road Builders – Trophée Babacar Ndiaye is a forum and award ceremony that takes place every year on the occasion of the AfDB Annual Meetings.

The Super Prize Great Builders – Trophée Babacar Ndiaye, which will be in its 4th edition next year, rewards the Heads of State whose countries are experiencing exemplary progress in terms of road and transport.
