Following their stunning victory at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria has risen by 22 places in FIFA‘s rankings and now sit in the 30th position – their best rating since August 2010.
Beaten finalists, Burkina Faso, also waltzed up the ladder, taking 37 steps upwards and are now 55th in the world. Although Cote d’Ivoire were dumped out of the quarter-finals by the Super Eagles, they moved up 2 places and are now 12th in the world and number one in Africa.
Spain continue to lead the rest of the world at number one, Germany is in second place, Argentina sits in third and are followed by England.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 14 March 2013.
