Chelsea forward scored twice from the spot, to earn Nigeria a 2-0 victory over Ethiopia, who had their goalkeeper, Biancha Sisay sent off.
The Super Eagles needed a win to be absolutely sure of progressing, but toiled for 80 minutes, before Moses was fouled in the area. The former Wigan Athletic man, dusted himself and sent Sisay the wrong way. Ten minutes later, Sisay – who was already on a yellow card – brought Moses down in the area. Moses again kept his nerves and made it 2-0. Nigeria will now face Cote d’Voire in the round of eight.
In the second match played in Nelspruit, Burkina Faso and Zambia drew goalless, a result which meant the defending champions are eliminated from the competition and Burkina Faso qualifies as group winners. They will play either Togo or Tunisia.
