Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has explained why his side defeated Seychelles 3-0 in Saturday’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

An own goal and strikes from Chidozie Awaziem and Odion Ighalo, saw Gernot Rohr’s men pick up their first win of the qualifying series, having lost 2-0 to South Africa in Uyo last year.

According to Rohr, his side defeated Seychelles because his players never underestimated their hosts.

He, however, said the three-time African champions are very satisfied with the result.

“We are very satisfied with the result as the important thing was to win three points,” CSN quoted Rohr as saying post-match.

“It was not easy as our opponents were very combative and aggressive. We started well though in the second half we found it hard playing against the wind.

“Our opponents also worked hard and we never underestimated them.”

Nigeria will play Libya in their next Group E AFCON qualifier in October 2018.
