Zimbabwe’s coach, Sunday Chidzamga, has backed Nigeria to reach the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, final in Egypt.

He also identified former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel and Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi, as two of the outstanding players in the Super Eagles squad.

The Warriors gaffer stated this following his side’s 0-0 draw with Nigeria in an international friendly game played on Saturday in Asaba.

”There are very good players in the team, the likes of Iwobi, Mikel. They have youngsters, they have a very good team and they stand a chance in the AFCON final,” Chidzamga was quoted by Allnigeriasoccer as saying at post-match.

”Both countries want to qualify. On our part we will try to get past the group stages, since we started this AFCON campaign we haven’t gone past the group stages but we are going to try to get past the group stages.

”I think the Super Eagles are in an easier group, they are seeded too and with their play they will be able to go past the group stages,” he added.

This year’s AFCON will be held from 15 June to 13 July 2019.
