President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has congratulated Super Eagles player, Jude Ighalo for winning the Golden Boot in the just concluded African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt.
Ighalo emerged top scorer of the just concluded AFCON after netting five goals.
The Super Eagles goal against Tunisia which saw the team claim bronze was his fifth goal of the tournament.
The Shanghai Shenhua striker has two ahead of three players, who are tied on three goals each: Cédric Bakambu (Congo DR), Sadio Mane (Senegal) and Adam Ounas (Algeria).
Reacting, Ahmad in a tweet, wrote: “Nigeria’s Odion Jude Ighalo won the highest goal scorer award at the just concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Ighalo becomes the second Super Eagles player, after late Rashidi Yekini to have won the golden boots award at the AFCON. Congrats Ighalo.”
