Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has insisted that they were always going to play a strong team in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16.
Nigeria were stunned 2-0 in their final Group B fixture at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, a result that means they finished in second place.
The three-time champions will now take on the country that finishes second in Group F, for a place in the quarter-final.
“We can play a good team reagardless of where we finish. We will analyse our future opponents when we know them,” Rohr told reporters on Sunday.
The German also expressed his confidence, that Nigeria can still win the tournament despite the setback.
“I’m still confident that we can win the AFCON, because we have our injured players back.
“Ighalo and Musa completed 90minutes, which should help our rhythm in attack. Also our left-back Collins is back so we have a fit again squad,” Rohr added.
