Senegal forward, Sadio Mane, has opted to stop taking penalties for the Teranga Lions, after missing two at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Mane missed a penalty against Uganda, but scored the winner as the West Africans progressed to the quarter-finals.
The Liverpool attacker who has three goals to his credit, has now decided to take a step back from spot-kick duties.
“I will not be selfish.
“I will stop playing penalty shootouts after being twice wasted so far in the tournament.
“My team comes first, and I will give another colleague a chance to play penalties if we get it in the future,” Mane said in a press statement after a team meeting.
Senegal will next face Benin in the last eight on Wednesday, July 10.
