Madagascar coach, Nicolas Dupuis, has hailed his players after they defeated Nigeria 2-0, in their last Group B fixture at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Lalaina Nomenjanahary pounced on Leon Balogun’s slip in the 13th minute, to give the debutants a shock lead.

The Eagles came out fighting in the second half, but Carolus Andriamahitsinoro made it 2-0 and all but ended the encounter as a contest.

It means Madagascar finished top with seven points, while the Super Eagles ended up with six points.

“I was excited by the draws and we were really happy to have the opportunity to play against such a big team like Nigeria.

“I congratulate my players because they have made me proud. I also congratulate Nigeria for being worthy opponents,” Dupuis told reporters afterwards.
