Candidate for the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Federal House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Hon. Kayode Success Ademiluyi whose name was excluded from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s final list for the 2019 general election, has vowed to seek court injunction to nullify the election even after it might have been conducted at a newly scheduled time if his candidature is not validated by the commission.
The embattled candidate castigated INEC for excluding his name and several others from the final list, rendering them unable to participate in the forthcoming election.
According to him, he, together with his party state chairman and the national chairman met with the chairman of INEC. Professor Mahmood Yakubu and even wrote letters, yet the mistake remained unrectified.
He explained that he eventually went to court to stop INEC from the illegality, saying the matter is currently at the federal high court before Justice Hassan, while hearing comes up on Monday, 18th February 2019.
He exclaimed: “My Party -the Action Democratic Party conducted primaries under the supervision of INEC, and everything went fine, peaceful and concluded. I emerged as the party flag bearer for the federal house of representatives Oshodi-Isolo constituency 2. Amongst other forms and screening, I filled forms CF001 and the national officers submitted same with other candidates, thereafter INEC published the names of candidates who have submitted their forms and cleared. My name was published, and I saw it on the board at the local government secretariat.
“We continued our campaign until a month to the election when they published the final list and we discovered that my name and that of one Seyi Clement in Surulere were omitted. My party chairman wrote letters to INEC and they were just nonchalant on the issue. My national chairman also met with the chairman of INEC and he promised to rectify but nothing was done. When I discovered that this is just an orchestrated plan to edge me out, I eventually ran to court, the matter was mentioned last week, and hearing comes up soon.
“I refuse to be intimidated by anyone, I am still in the race, nobody can stop me, I urge all my teaming supporters to remain calm, the truth will prevail.
“Once we get an order from the court, we will nullify the election even after the conduct of the election.”
