Adoption of indirect primaries a coup against democracy – APC founding member blasts Bauchi ch

A founding member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bauchi State, Alhaji Nasiru Darazo has stated that the decision of the state chapter of the party to settle for indirect primaries is a coup against democracy.

This was as he stated that the decision was a glaring attempt to rob Nigerians of their franchise through electoral rigging.

Speaking with DAILY POST in Bauchi on Thursday, he stated that those behind the decision were errand boys and agents of Governor Abubakar who were only out to implement the script prepared by their master.

“Any such meeting without Speaker Dogara and Dr Yakubu Lame does not justify true democracy and not representative because their support for Buhari in 2015 helped in bringing the current state and federal government to power,” Darazo claimed.

According to the APC chieftain, the decision on indirect primaries was a clear indication that his party was prepared to relinquish power to the opposition in the 2019 election.

He however regretted that the failure of the APC administration under Gov. Abubakar will definitely make the party lose to the opposition at the polls.

Darazo insisted that the indirect primary election is not a welcome decision to most APC supporters, and warned the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole to rethink and reverse the trend to prevent the party from losing the state in 2019.
