Sunshine Stars striker, Tunde Adeniji, scored twice as his team defeated Rangers 5-1 on Wednesday, to become the leading scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Adeniji’s brace in the rescheduled Week 34 game means he now has 16 goals to his name.

He has toppled Gbolahan Salami (Warri Wolves) and Esosa Igbinobia (Nasarawa United), in the hunt for the Golden Boot prize. Both have 15 goals.

Wikki Tourists’ Mubarak Umar and Ocheme Edoh of Giwa FC have 12 each.

Last season, Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh set a new goals record in the NPFL, when he netted 23 times.
