The embattled candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Federal House of Representatives in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Kayode Success Ademiluyi, has declared his intention to dump his party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ademiluyi, who dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court for excluding his name from the final list of candidates to contest for the 2019 election, said he decided to withdraw the case, leave his party and join APC after he was convinced that APC is the right platform for him to ride to his political career.
In a chat with DAILY POST, the former ADP candidate said he was pleased with the policies and leaders of APC and that he did not regret leaving his former party to join the ruling party.
He said: “I came into politics few years ago to effect the desired change I have been yearning for several years back. I started during the 2014 elections as a delegate to the national convention in Abuja.
“Fast forward, I joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP) sequel to the 2019 elections when I read the ideology of the party as one with credible programme for the constituency, now I understand better that having something in a party server and doing it are different.
“Contesting for the House of Representatives under the ADP platform is very challenging because of the fact that the party structure is still at a low ebb, including sponsored ward meetings and publicity stunts to enlighten people about the party and what it stands for.
“As discussed earlier that my name was removed by INEC from the final list of candidates to contest and I went to court, filed a pre-election matter at the federal high court, I have decided to quit ADP. I left ADP and joined APC.
“Why did I quit ADP? ADP seems to be run like a one-man business by one person in Abuja who doesn’t obey the constitution of the party, cannot be cautioned by the BOT of the party because he who pays the piper dictates the tune. He financed the party from the onset and he controls everything and is bigger than the party and its constituted rules.
“The APC government, on the other hand, has been tried and tested in Lagos State, though not without hiccups and some mistakes. But it can do better than a new party which has not been in power but already running oligarchy. What then will happen when the party gets to the seat of authority.
“I am satisfied with APC and the leaders. I don’t have any regrets leaving ADP. It’s not about any settlement, nobody settled me, I was not lured into the party, it was a voluntary decision and I have explained this to my followers. At the right time, the leaders will officially welcome me and my followers into APC. I’m waiting for the day.
“The price paid was to withdraw the matter at the Federal High court which I did. I’m now part and parcel of the APC and its policies.”
