Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, on Saturday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately address all issues concerning the malfunction of the card readers it deployed for the accreditation of voters nationwide.
Fashola made the call after casting his vote Ward G-3, State Senior Secondary School, Itolo, Surulere.
The governor, who waited for over two hours in the queue with his wife, Abimbola, and his son, Ademola, however expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the process at the polling unit where he cast his vote.
He said: “It is good around here so far. I came here at about 1.35pm and voted around 3.50pm.”
The governor also observed that there was no country in the world with perfect elections, urging INEC to ensure that willing voters were not disenfranchised.
“Don’t forget that this is a logistic challenge going on nationwide, where you plan for the worst and hope for the best.
“These are some of the realities of our lives and there are no perfections here. What is important here is that nobody should be seen sabotaging the process.”
