Nkem Ukandu, the South-East Zonal Secretary of African Democratic Congress, ADC, yesterday said Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has not formally joined the party formed by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.
He also said the former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has not also officially joined the party.
The ADC scribe confirmed this to Vanguard in Owerri, saying the doors are open for anybody who wants to join the party.
Recently, Obasanjo visited Imo State after his Coalition for Nigeria Movement, CNM, joined ADC, as part of his strategies to boost its membership.
Ukandu said, “You already know that our doors are open for anybody who wants to join the party. We already have a hand shake as our symbol.
“As we speak, I can categorically tell you that neither Ikedi Ohakim nor Rochas Okorocha has come to join ADC formally. We are encouraging our people to join the party but you have to abide by the rules and regulations. Our doors are wide open.
Meanwhile, Okorocha’s chosen one for 2019 gubernatorial election in the state, Nwosu, yesterday said he was going to be governor of the state come 2019.
He spoke in front of Imo Government House, when scores of youths came on solidarity visit.
Addressing the youths, Nwosu said, “When you look at my face, you will be happy. You have come to see my face and you will be happy.
“President Muhammadu Buhari needs another four years to stabilise this country. “In 2019, Buhari will continue as president of Nigeria and in 2019, I will be the next governor of Imo State.
“Forget these people who are busy running around in Abuja. I want to tell you that we have taken over. “For now, we are at the right step. Okorocha is a bishop in the cathedral and he is preparing people to take over the cathedral.”
