Nigeria’s former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been extolled by a socio-political association, Adamawa Think-Tank, for creating jobs for indigenes of Adamawa State despite what it termed “serial betrayal” and lack of reciprocation of his good gesture by the people.
Chairman of the association, Danladi Danasabe, while making the assertion yesterday, noted that aside the Adamawa State Government, Alhaji Abubakar remains the highest employer of labour in the State.
“I can confidently tell you that in terms of finances, the Turaki (Atiku) even spends more than the state government as far as wage bill is concerned”.
Danasabe observed that Atiku’s companies, such as the Faro Group, Gotel TV and Radio stations, the American University of Nigeria amongst others, have provided direct and indirect jobs to over 50,000 citizens of the State.
He expressed sadness that despite all these laudable efforts, politicians in the State as well as the people have continued turn their backs on the former Vice President when he needed them most.
“The most annoying thing is that we understand many of the delegates to the national convention of the APC which produced Muhammadu Buhari as the party’s candidate did not vote for Turaki, that is most unfortunate,” he lamented.
Fearing that the former Vice President may have “had it” with the people after the APC primary election, Think-Tank said, “To our surprise, he came back and set up two more new factories, an extension to Faro juice chain and an animal feed production company.”
Danasabe however encouraged the former presidential aspirant to continue with his investments, assuring him that, “the ordinary man on the street remains grateful and appreciative”.
