Adamawa Government has said that no worker has been sacked by government as being speculated.
A statement on Monday signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, said there was nothing like plan to sack workers employed by previous administrations.
“The attention of Adamawa State Government has been drawn to a false, malicious and unfounded rumour making rounds that Adamawa State Government under Senator Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla has sacked all workers employed by the previous governments in the state.
“This is totally false. However, if reference is made to the outcome of Local Government workers verification, then it is necessary to observe that certain anomalies were quite manifest and require remedies which were appropriately recommended.”
Sajoh said that government had observed anomalies in the just-concluded local government staff verification such as employment of under-aged children between three to 10 years.
He said no government would fold its arms and watch such anomalies, adding that Gov Jibrilla had given three months to any worker whose name was omitted in the verification to come for confirmation.
He noted that the verification was not to sack workers but to ensure “a smooth payment of salaries at all levels devoid of the corrupt systems of the past.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that about 12,000 ghost workers were identified during the local government workers verification. (NAN)
