Adamawa guber: 11 candidates step down, declare support for Bindow’s reelection

Eleven governorship candidates of different political parties in Adamawa State have dropped their ambition to support the reelection bid of the incumbent governor, Sen Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow.

They were formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday at Bindow’s campaign flag off in Yola by the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who said they had signed a memorandum to collapse their campaign structures into those of Bindow.

Abdullahi Usman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Bappari Umaru of KOWA Party, Elizabeth Isah of Change Advocacy Party (CAP) and Lami Musa of Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) were among the eleven welcomed into the APC by Oshiomhole.

Others included Badau Isaac Sa’adu of the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP), Bulame Naame of Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA), Frank Usman Koshihula of MEGA Party, Sa’ad Maiyaki of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Achubi Umar Jada of Alliance for National Party (ANP).

Umar Jada, who spoke for the eleven candidates, said they gave up their ambition for Bindow because of his giant strides in the past years of his first term.

The 11 had been among 29 people (including Bindow) who obtained the tickets of their respective parties for the coming governorship election, but they also had been among the least promising, as nothing was heard from them from when they got their tickets till the Tuesday event of their declaring support for Bindow.

Oshomhole told them they were welcomed into the APC and the Bindow reelection campaign efforts, declaring that their support and the large turnout of other supporters to Bindow’s flagoff campaign signified that Bindow is the candidate to beat.

“There are only two candidates in this state, Bindow and the others,” Oshiomhole said.

Speaking also at the campaign flag off ceremony, which took place at the famous Ribadu Square in Jimeta, Yola, Governor Jibrilla Bindow urged Adamawa people to vote for him and other candidates of the party at all levels so they could have more of quality governance.
