Front line Yoruba actress, Mosun Filani- Oduoye is bereaved, as her father, Pa Olatunde Solomon Filani passed away this afternoon.

According to family sources, Pa Filani, born in 1946, recently retired as a lecturer from the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, where he worked for several years.

A native of Ikole Ekiti, Pa Filani was said to have been instrumental in the training of several students who are today doing well either in the teaching profession or in other areas of human endeavor.

Mosun Filani, one of the children of the deceased is a front line actress in the Yoruba movie industry, who has distinguished herself in the world of make belief both as a role interpreter and a producer.

She is married to Barrister Kayode Oduoye, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate for the House of Representatives for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in Osun state.

Reacting to the death of Pa Filani, Barrister Oduoye said he received the news with shock. this afternoon

“It was really painful when I received the news; having become a member of the family, I share with them this moment of grief and I beseech the Almighty God to grant our father eternal rest. May God also grant the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

“We indeed mourn the death of our father and I would surely miss him for his words of wisdom, guidance and fatherly love but we take solace in the fact that he lived an eventful life that is worthy of emulation”, he said.

The family of the deceased is expected to announce burial details soon.
