The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has protested the planned visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Lagos state tomorrow Thursday, April 18.
In an open letter on Wednesday to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, ACN spokesman and member of the party national convention committee, Lai Mohammed, said the president deliberately scheduled his visit in order to disrupt its event.
The ACN wondered why the country’s leaders heeded the words of his party and advisers to fix his trip on a day the opposition is to hold a mega rally, recalling that announcement for the convention was made weeks ago.
ACN appealed to Fashola to talk with Jonathan, to use intra-city transportation like helicopter during his stay in the commercial centre of the country, to avoid “frustrating and provoking” its members.
ACN, is the first of other opposition parties to hold a convention preparatory to the registration of the All Progressives Congress. Others include the All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and a faction of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
